Heavy Combat Adventure Track

Hail bold warriors, you who are the defenders of justice and truth. A village on the borders of your lands has been besieged by those who would steal your livestock and murder your people. Rally your boldest fighters and defend your lands from these bandits!

This adventure track will consist of three scenarios. Each team will consist of three fighters using whatever weapons they desire. War weapons are encouraged but not required. The teams will proceed through the three scenarios. Points will be scored based on how quickly each team completes the scenarios and by how much damage (loss of limb or life) is suffered during the scenarios.

The first scenario will be an ambush. Your team will be ambushed by three enemies, all fighting in single sword style.

The second scenario will begin when you reach the village. There will be ten buildings which the enemies will be attempting to burn down. The enemies will consist of three single sword bandits and two bandit captains fighting with whatever weapon style they choose. The enemies will burn a building down by having one person inside the building who must kneel down and set their weapon on the ground. After 30 seconds the building will be burned. A fighter who is kneeling and unarmed may be declared dead on the ground by any opposing fighter in the same building so long as the kneeling fighter has no allies. Shots may not be thrown through the walls. Point penalties will be assessed for each building that the opposition successfully burns.

The third scenario will be against the black knight. The black knight is clad in sturdy armor and therefore can resist the blows of the fighters. The limbs of the black knight are proof against all attacks. The black knight can only be defeated by suffering three killing blows.

At the end of each scenario all wounded and killed fighters will be restored to wholeness. If a team suffers the death of all combatants then the entire team will be restored and allowed to reattempt the scenario. If the entire team dies twice then they will be restored and allowed to move onto the next scenario with a significant death penalty.

Each branch shall receive one point for each branch member that completes the adventure track. They will also receive the points for the best performing team.

The enemies will be provided by the other branches wishing to compete. Numbers of team members, bandits, etc, will be adjusted as necessary, based on participation.

 

Native Forces Castle Siege

In this intense scenario, you and the other fighters of your branch must defend the castle from all other fighters! Each fighter defending the castle will have 1 life while all aggressors will have infinite lives. This is a timed battle where victory will go to the heavy combat force which is able to withstand the horde the longest!

 

Usual mercenary rules apply: bribe unaffiliated or ineligible (Couer du Val) fighters to join your side to increase your chances of victory!

 

Open Field Melee

We will divide the forces into 2 even sides for a large scale, open field melee. All fighters will have 3 resurrections. The branches on the winning side will take home the war points.

 

Squire-Style Tournament

There will be an opportunity to fight as many fighters as you wish 1-on-1! We will open the field for a squire-style tournament. Fighters pick their own pairings and fight for 20 minutes.  There will then be a 20 minute break and then another 20 minutes of fighting.

Tavern Brawl Melee
A free-for-all tavern brawl melee scenario. Each fighter is given a cup of 'ale' and is to hold it in their off-hand, fighters must not spill their drinks while fending off the other brawlers. If a fighter drops their cup they are out, all cups will have a line of measurement and if the 'ale' falls below that line the fighter will lose. Last two fighters will get a refill and fight it out for the finals.

 

Native Forces Castle Siege Melee

The Armies of each branch shall compete against each other for the glory of their lands by claiming a lovely new castle for themselves. Attackers and defenders shall have three lives each. this shall be timed and the two fastest teams shall face off in all out war to claim the castle for their own, the final two teams shall alternate between attacking and defending and have one life each. The fastest team or the one that successfully defends and attacks, wins.

 

Standard Double Elimination Tournament

Prove that you are the fiercest fighter on the field by entering our standard double elimination tournament! Using your preferred weapon combination, fight other rapier fighters of the Summits and beyond to show your might, chivalry, and skill.

 

The top 2 fighters will face off to determine who will win additional points for their branch!

Siege The Castle Tournament

This will be a timed scenario where one attacker will face off against three defenders in SINGLE combat.

 

The attacker will have as many lives as needed to take the castle. One defender will stand guard at the castle gates, the second within the entrance hall, and the last defender will stand guard in the throne room.

 

The two fastest times will compete against each other in a 3-unanswered blows fight to the death!

 

Cut & Thrust Cattle-Crest Single Elimination Tournament

Do you think you have what it takes to best the other C&T fighters on the field? Do you like wearing amazingly outlandish things on your head while doing it??

 

Look no further than our Cow-themed Crest Combat Single Elimination tournament! Just like the period tournaments of old, fighters will afix upon their head Cattle-Crests (provided by Glyn Dwfn!), filled with candy (!) and will face the other fighters on the field.

 

Unlike a standard tounrmanet, however, the only round-ending strike will be one that knocks the crest off the other fighter's head (strikes must be acknowledged but will not end the fight)!

Archers! I would like to invite each of you to come practice your craft at this year's Tain Bo: the Great Cattle Raid. We have a full range of archery activities planned; from protecting your cattle from moving target raiders, to saving the event from a nighttime raid of Revenant's Revenge Radioactive Zombies! Hone your skills with royal rounds or give yourself a challenge with targets at unmarked ranges. If you enjoy the craftmanship of archery, don't miss classes like Making Bowstrings or Medieval Fletching.

 

 

This event will also feature Glyn Dwfn's inaugural Archery Championship! What could be better than being an Archery Champion? Being the First Archery Champion! But, steel yourself... This competition is an Archery Duel to the DEATH! Stay tuned; details to follow!

 

If you enjoy archery, whether you are an expert or just have always wanted to give it a shot, Tain Bo is not an event to miss!

Youth Armored Combat

More details to come. There will be an opportunity for YAC fighters to meet on the tournament fields with others of their divison.

 

Children will also be given some time to play sieging the castle!
